Hello, my name is Mr. Johnson and I am the 8th-grade homeroom teacher here at St. Michael’s. This is my fifteenth year here at St. Michael’s. In addition to Social Studies, I also teach Religion to my homeroom class. I am very excited to be teaching two subjects that I’m very passionate about. Social Studies was always my favorite subject in school due in large part to the passion and knowledge my teachers had for the subject. My middle and high school teachers not only inspired me to become a teacher, but also a History major at Cal State University of Long Beach. I enjoy being able to pass down the values, knowledge, and skills I’ve attained from my family, education, and faith.
The 8th grade year is a major step for students in planning for their future. Students will apply to various Catholic high schools of their choice, undertake extra tutoring sessions on the weekends, and study for the HSPT exam in January. I love working at the Junior High level because I am able to witness students taking a vested interest in their future. I enjoy spending time after school with students during tutoring sessions or during practice for the Academic Decathlon.
In addition to teaching, I also serve as Assistant Principal of Student Services. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me via the Contact Staff & Faculty Page.
